About Us

Lewis Mittman has been creating extremely high quality furniture in the United States since 1953. In 1970 the manufacturing base was expanded to Italy, and again, in 2007 to include Asia where we now produce 80% of our offering for the discriminating designer, purchasing agent and property.

Our collection extends over 4 centuries of reproductions and original design, with the preponderance of our work now dedicated to original, custom designs specified by designers throughout the world.

Over the past few years we have greatly expanded the operational side of our business. Our staff in the US is led by Jamie Hoover, Senior Project Manager.  She and her staff are usually in daily contact with our clients. In Asia, our operation is centered in China. Our owner, Steve Mittman, with almost 50 years of experience,  now resides in China over half the year, insisting on personally overseeing production strategy. He is deeply involved in the quote process, pre-production, and insurance that the Lewis Mittman quality standards remain at the highest level. Our Director of Operations, Jonathan Houghton, an English citizen, is a graduate of the design department of the University of Leeds… and has extensive experience in Europe and Asia in designing and managing hospitality projects for over 16 years. He resides in Shanghai and manages our operation in Asia. These key people are supported by a staff of 15 project managers and quality control personnel micromanaging the daily manufacturing operations.
